Yay! This week has been a big hit here too – Kieran’s been playing with money for two days. I cut different size holes in old containers and let him play with them that way, we did the tracing/matching activity, he loves playing store, and the “Bennies Pennies” book has been a raging success – half the time we just act it out ourselves instead of reading it!
So glad you and Everett are enjoying everything :)

Everett is loving these activities this week! His teachers at school said he is really showing interested in math activities so I thought these would be perfect. Today we took the money out of his bank, traced and sorted, looked at the similarities and differences and counted all his change. Then we set up pretend stores with his cars and animals so he could shop for them, counting out his money, bringing his reusable bag, etc. He wanted to keep playing after an hour and half. For lunch we set up a restaurant, Mom’s Diner, and he got to order from the menu and pay at the end. He loved it! Thanks for all the great ideas.

I'll tell you what's even better than your Thursday plan of tracing the shapes of money--photocopy actual coins and then have him match them up. I did that for a co-op class for little ones and it was a hit. I didn't take a photo of the coin page, but you can see one I did with dominoes here. It looks like a fun week!
