Inspiration to Make a Difference
If you’ve read any of my posts on volunteering with children,1 you know that one of my passions is giving my time to others. Since becoming a mama, I’ve had to really rethink the way volunteering looks to me, because the things I used to do are not as easy with a toddler in tow.
Sometimes, I’ve even (selfishly) thought that finding ways to give of our time is more hassle than I feel like bothering with.
And then I come across a video like the one below, and I’m left in tears wondering how I can help make an impact like the man they featured. What an incredible model of human kindness, of love and acceptance.

Very inspirational for this time of the year! Thanks for reminding us!
I try to give to those whom I come in contact with. I believe life presents us with the people who need our help, and sometimes it is something very small.
Such as collecting all our change in the office when the cleaning lady has not been paid. It does not make a dent in our pockets, but it makes a huge difference in her life!
Lovely! And yes, inspiring. You know, sometimes I think I give a lot, and I like to have that image of myself, and then I realise I can also be so selfish. As you say, looking at time it will take away from my children. Our Western culture really does not promote unselfishness. Which is not to blame selfishness on culture, or to romanticise Eastern culture – but it is quite notable to me how other places I have visited and lived in have a very different attitude to what giving means.
What a beautiful man. It is so lovely to know there are people like that out there. :)
