Kieran must have loved that!
I so love the idea of having your appointments in your home. K can be where he doesn’t have to be protected (from open outlets or whatever else you might find around an exam room) and can be as involved (or not) as he chooses. Wonderful!
It’s actually at the home of our midwife – but the same sentiments apply :) We’ll do at least one midwife appt at our house pre-labor though, so Amber can get familiar with the drive, the house, etc. I’m excited!
You’re barely showing, but you look fabulous and Kieran looks the part of the proud big brother already. This must have been so exciting!
love this pic of you guys. i loved doing that w/dd#3, the girls loved hearing the heartbeat of their sister and “helping” the midwife. Here’s to a great gestation for you mama!
These photos are so wonderfully…normal!
One of the things I adore about midwifery care is how inviting my midwife was for the kids to actively participate. She really understood (having 11 kids of her own, 2 of which are training to be midwives themselves btw) the “ownership” and pride that an older sibling can have in nurturing their younger sibling. That starts before birth.
It’s like instant gratification for choosing gentle parenting. They have had such awesome modeling for empathy and unconditional love, that they often feel the same emotions toward their new sibling.
Please keep the belly photos coming.
Best wishes for continued healthy gestating!
Thanks Zoie! I agree – our midwife is so good with Kieran, inviting him to ask questions, participate in the appointment, etc. I’m so happy we found her!
LOVE!
Makes me long to do it all over again – the way I wanted to!
BTW – Was he able to hear it???
Wow, 24 weeks! You are getting there, Mama! Your appointment looks so great!
My experience with twins and Drs was sooooo different. Appointments were not at ALL kid friendly (just too long!) and we never heard just heartbeats — it was always ultrasounds and then they’d turn on the sound. Which I wasn’t opposed to given the circumstances — but it did feel like we were kind of missing out on something — just hearing the heartbeat(s) is so cool!
