Dear Mom,

You know I love you . . .

And I don’t mean to sound ungrateful . . .

In fact, Kieran really enjoyed painting the lovely concrete statuary you purchased for him.

But please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop buying us yard art.

Your loving daughter,

Dionna

  1. I literally *snorted* when I read that last line. That’s hilarious. I bet you’ve got a really fab lawn though.

  2. :) Thanks for the laughs! And Dionna, thanks for replying my messages on Twitter :)

    • Of COURSE! I wish there was something more I could do to help – do you want me to post something on NursingFreedom’s FB page? Or mine? I’m happy to!

HAHA :) I totally giggled out loud at this one. I would LOVE yard art, though. Can you send it to me? (even though I have no yard…haha) <3 Also, Kieran has gotten quite big! Did he get a hair cut?

    • I told my sister that she’s lucky she lives in FL – she’s in no danger of having concrete yard art shipped to her ;) If we ever go visit my other sister in SC, I’ll be sure to bring you some concrete.

  4. This made me laugh out loud (literally)! My son would completely love painting that duck/goose… lol.

  5. Hahaha, love it!! Now you’re giving me ideas for my own yard…

  6. Tammy

Look on the bright side… the bright purple, concrete side that is…

  7. Ah ha ha ha……… I’m LOL-ing right now!
Dear Mom… so funny. I hope you have a big yard with lots of bushes to tuck those guys under!

  8. Ha!

In my family, it’s my grandmother who buys the truly unfortunate gifts. Luckily I haven’t received any yard art yet, though. She prefers to “decorate” the INSIDE of my house.

  9. I’m laughing right along with everyone else! At least the yard art is going to good use. you could just use waterproof paint and have him paint it over and over again… it would wash off every time it rains!

    • Gaby that’s exactly what we did – Kieran paints the rocks in our garden every once in awhile, and so we use waterproof paint so he can paint them differently every time :)

Love it! They are pretty unique though right? Better than the dull concrete color I think. :)

I thought this was supposed to be WORDLESS WEDNESDAY…lol I think that the duck and mushroom will be wonderful additions to your rainbow garden…lol and as you said…Kieran is having fun…that was the purpose!!! (Does this mean you don’t want the dozen other rather larger concrete critters that I bought for you yesterday??????) Lol
    Just kidding!!

  12. Dionna, I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now – Kieran suddenly looks like he’s growing so fast! :-) I love his expression as he’s painting. Very sweet and serene.

  13. Hee hee hee hee hee. My great-grandmother once gave my dad and uncles each a plant stand that was made out of stacked mayonnaise jars spray painted white. Each one was “accidentally” placed near a door and (sniff!) knocked over and broken. Maybe there could be a lawn-mowing accident in that duck’s future…

  14. LMBO – one day I went to the statuary and bought a small concrete statue for each of the members of my household (at that time it was 1 husband, 1 wife, and 3 kids!). We left them all, though, no need to paint them. We just had these cute, small little statues (like a kitten, for instance) hiding around the yard. Lets see how difficult we can make it to MOW! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!
