Children’s Outdoor Obstacle Course
*This is my not-so-Wordless Wednesday post. Be sure to link up your own at Natural Parents Network, where they’re featuring our readers’ “Big Kids“!
Now that the summer heat has broken, we’ve been spending more time outdoors again. This morning Kieran asked to choose something out of his activity jar, and we selected “create an outdoor obstacle course.”
What we created probably qualifies more as a “challenge” course than an “obstacle” course, but you can use anything at your disposal for this activity.
Get imaginative with your course!
Use nature: trees, bushes, hills, rocks;
Use outdoor toys: swings, slides, riding toys, balls;
Use inside toys: sit & spins, small toys for shooting baskets;
Use recycled objects: boxes, an old plastic pool.
Here are a few pictures of Kieran whizzing through his obstacle course:

Kieran started by riding his scooter across the driveway. Then, he putted a golf ball into his putting green.
Have you done obstacle courses with your children? What challenges did you include?

This looks so fun! Great idea!
ahh he is having great fun! Our garden is smallish so no chance of obstacle courses except the obstacles our toddler leaves for us ;)
This is such a great idea, and it seems like it could be fun for hours! Designing it, going through it, going through it as quickly as you possibly can, going through it backwards: the ideas are practically endless :)
How cool! Definitely looks like a fun thing to create together, and then makes for a total photo op!
So cute! Peanut and I used to do indoor obstacle courses when it was colder outside and will probably do it again this year. Since she was a bit younger, it was pretty basic things like climbing under the table, over a pillow, up and down a step ladder, etc. She loved the idea of me starting the stopwatch and her doing it as fast as she could though. :-P
Cuty, cuty, cuty, cute!!!! super like………the pictures recalls me of my nephews….I missed them so much!
Huhuhuhu…
This is an adorable idea. I might put it to use for our annual pumpkin carving party if the weather cooperates.
