My fellow writer, Lucy H. Pearce of The Happy Womb and Dreaming Aloud, has written a book that every woman would benefit from.

Moon Time: A Guide to Celebrating Your Menstrual Cycle includes resources that will provide you with creative tools to help you celebrate your cycle, rituals for self-care, nutritional and herbal suggestions for supporting you through your cycle, spiritual/ wise woman insight into your cycle, and a comprehensive practical guide to creating a red tent, moon lodge or menarche celebration.

You can get a sample of Lucy’s powerful writing at her two sites, but here are a couple of my favorite pieces:

From Becoming a woman:

It is only in the past few months I have felt a woman, become a woman, stretched into my woman-skin, inhabited my woman self.
How did it happen? Why did it happen?
I realised that it had happened, in retrospect. I felt like I filled my body fully – my large breasts and swaying hips. I fit my skirts and mama heart. I fit my moods. And I had learned to stake my claim on my own life.

From Shattered:

Here I lie, my brain writing masterpieces in the darkness
Words which evaporate with the dawn
The day is here once more, but sleep has eluded me once again.
I yearn for it like a lover.

Click on Lucy's painting to visit Dreaming Aloud and find a discount code to buy your own copy of Moon Time!

These are but two examples of Lucy’s writing, which I have enjoyed over the past year or more.

Moon Time is the first of the Woman-craft collection of books, which will share the art of being a woman that your mother never taught you.

  1. I liked The Happy Womb on FB. Mandy O’Brien

  2. I think for me, pregnancy was one of the first times I really felt like a woman. It felt as if I was coming into my own being and biological purpose. Birth, breastfeeding, and mothering have only reenforced that.

I’d like to win because after two babies my cycle is wonky and I’d love to figure out what’s going on so we can start on baby #3

I liked the FB Page. I’ve always been really in tune with the moon – this book seems right up my alley :-)

In my struggle to become a mother, these last 3 years, I’ve found a deep sense of strength and peace in the cycles of the moon – and womanhood.
I got 2 very healing tattoos of the new moon and full moon on my inner wrists to remind me of our powerful connection to the moons and the universe.
I watched my cycles become painfully long (80+ days) while away from the Ocean, and now returning, I bleed with the full, and ovulate with the new.

I think I’d really like this book. (O)

This book sounds lovely. Have liked on FB.
I certainly felt the full power of being a woman when I delivered my second child at home, without medication or intervention, on my knees, in a birth pool, with a roar! It is a moment that transformed me, and which I will never forget. x

I liked THW on Facebook but I don’t feel comfortable giving my FB name in public, is that OK? You can always contact me through email and I will tell you! Thank you.

I feel like birth is what forced me to experience the full power of being a woman, I feel like for most of my life I’ve sort of danced around it, touched my toes in it, but never really jumped in; not feeling authentic with it, and not really knowing how to. But birth threw me into my female body head first, and didn’t let me out, didn’t let up, and forced me to sit fully in it, and open my eyes. It was like a tidal wave, of which I’m very grateful :)

I liked the Happy Womb on facebook- under Michelle Angone. I’m looking forward to reading Moon Time, it looks like an amazing book!

The first time I felt truly like a woman was when my first born was placed in my arms. Nothing up to that point could compare to the feeling of complete and total womanliness I felt at that moment. It was if I was finally let in on a divine secret that connected all of us (women) as One. I was part of the great mystery, I was mother.

I have been thinking about the moon lately. My toddler is obsessed with it, searching for it in the sky, night and day, moon! moon!
My brother pointed out recently that women are born with all the eggs they’ll ever have, and then just release them, one at a time, magic little seeds. Since I don’t plan on having more children, I’ve been thinking about what meaning to find in that continued release, month after month. Like maybe I could bring my awareness at the beginning of each new cycle to where to direct my creative energies, which won’t be used for creating new humans this month, but possibly something equally wonderful?

  21. I would love a copy of this book for myself and to share with my circle of women! I feel like a woman when I belly dance- it is as though all those curves on my body were made just for the occasion and I feel perfect.

I would love this book! There’s so much shame and secrecy surrounding menstruation and being a woman in general. Books like this help us to embrace our root and make things different for our children.

Thanks for hosting this giveaway, Dionna!
