Nursing can be magical. Don’t believe me? What else can comfort a nursling through everything: surgeries, bumps and bruises, loss, illness.

I don’t know how many times I was thankful that I was still nursing my toddler.

And how many times I fretted about how our relationship and his feeling of comfort from nursing would change after he weaned.

But natural or gentle weaning does not take place overnight. You will not all of a sudden need to figure out how to replace the comfort and security of nursing with some other form of love. You can make that transition gradually. And once you are there, you will look back and wonder what you were so worried about.

Today’s video is part 4 in our series on weaning. In this video, several of my breastfeeding friends talk about how their relationship with their nurslings changed after they weaned.1
