Why did I agree to chat with Nightline and Maria Kang? All we hoped for was that she recognize the thousands of voices who had expressed dismay, that she empathize with the women who are doing all they can right now, that she understand that we can all be role models, regardless of whether we are a size 4, 14, or 24.

Healthy” can look like a number of different shapes, sizes, and body types. And yet our society puts tremendous pressure on women to quickly lose the baby weight and reach some culturally predetermined vision of perfection. Let’s resist culturally unhealthy stereotypes.
